Media Release - Neller Supports Another HR Champion

Neller, leading vendor of on-demand people management solutions is pleased to congratulate the winner of the Neller HR (CEO) Champion Award, Harry Stout of ING Australia.

This award, presented at the black tie Gala Dinner held in the Parks Ballroom at the Sydney Convention Centre on October 30, recognises CEOs and MDs for their contribution to HR. For HR to be successful in any organisation, management buy-in is critical. HR champions are those who have gone the extra mile and who drive successful HR strategy from the top. The Award recognisesa CEO/MD who amongst other attributes: Demonstrates leadership in ensuring people issues are clearly on management's agenda; Champions specific HR or employer of choice initiatives and involves HR Director as a key member of management team designing and implementing business strategies

Kelvin Canavan, CEO of Catholic Education Sydney was also highly commended and other finalists from Red Balloon Days and Vodafone were recognised for their excellence in the Human Resources field.  

Neller's Managing Director, David Page says key management buy-in is essential for HR issues and initiatives to have a smooth transition from planning to implementation. "In our experience, having support at board level for HR initiatives, assists in cultivating a mutually beneficial culture for all staff members. Key HR issues such as training, talent management and O.H & S have a greater chance of success when senior management put their weight behind such initiatives." Mr Page said.

The 2008 Australian HR Awards recognise excellence across the entire spectrum of HR, with 16 categories ranging from strategic planning, to innovation in recruitment, to the best HR team the awards also recognise those empowering HR's efforts through the CEO award for best HR champion. This is the second consecutive year that Neller has supported this award.
