Peter's passion for assisting Australian software developers flourish and compete with larger multinational organisations within the Australasian market has been recognised by this award. Peter’s accolades also include the inaugural Australian Technology Entrepreneur of the Year award of 2001 and his induction into the IT and T Hall of Fame in 2004.

The CSIRO Tony Benson Award commemorates the work and dedication of long-term champion of the Australian ICT industry, Tony Benson, who died in February 2005. An industry stalwart for more than 40 years, Tony set an outstanding example of selfless contribution to Australian ICT industry development.
